About San Cristobal
San cristobal de las casas, cultural center of Chiapas, contains ancient Mayan spirit, is not a world of individualism, but of the community, the strong sense of belonging and cohesiveness. For the Mayan descendent living in Chiapas, identity usually marks on their textile and clothes which tell their origins in details, such as colors, patterns and styles, and on different tongues as well.
About Villages
Most of the people in the villages still live the way as their Mayan ancestors, especially when it comes to medicine and the spiritual view of the world. Yet the strong Mayan esthetic sense keeps its fascinating culture here around the whole Chiapas in all aspects which are shared and formed into different ways by different villages.
Full of culture and stories as this amazing place is, however, people start to lose their true self-identity mentally. It becomes a mere formality only for commercial usage, like a show. Therefore, we decided to record it down, to remember and to tell people who we are.
